Whether your wish is to fish for hours or simply to lie in the sun and
enjoy cool breezes from the Gulf of México. La Pesca is the place for you.
And, if you enjoy eating, fresh crabs, trout, and oysters, are always
available. This quiet port on the Tamaulipas coast is the ideal setting
for both fishing and relaxation. Miles of beautiful white beaches and warm
waters make this the perfect site for aquatic sports. La Pesca offers all
of this and much more.
Located just north of the Tropic of Cancer, La Pesca is 106 miles east of
the state's capital, Ciudad Victoria, 26 miles from municipal head, Soto
La Marina, and only 190 miles from Brownsville, Texas.
La Pesca is a beautiful formation of marine lakes or "lagunas" at the
mouth of the "Soto La Marina" river: A unique enviornment where the Gulf
of México and the river meet. It is this confluence of river and sea that
gives rise to the area's abundant marine life. Trout, red fish and many
other species can be found in large numbers.
Just north of La Pescam the Mexican Government has opened a beachfront
laboratory to study and breed one of the country's endangered species, the
"Tortuga Lora" or parrot turtle. Be sure to visit the laboratory during
your stay.
The naval headquarters located in La Pesca offers medical services as well
as a convenience store that is open to the public. Prescription medicines
can be obtained either in La Pesca or in nearby Soto La Marina.
